On Thursday, May 28, 2026, we hosted a special evening celebrating the launch of Bridging Voice’s New York State Initiative, a new effort to expand access to life-changing communication technology and support for people living with ALS across New York.
This dynamic, reception-style event featured interactive innovation stations where guests could demo communication technologies and connect with fellow supporters, nonprofit partners, and Bridging Voice clients. We had more than a hundred guests in attendance, many of whom were learning about Bridging Voice and ALS communication challenges for the very first time!

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a progressive disease that eventually makes speaking, typing, and even using your hands impossible, with many people ultimately becoming “locked in”—completely unable to move or communicate.
Bridging Voice was created to ensure that this doesn’t happen. Our team provides hands-on, personalized training and custom solutions for tools like eye trackers, speech-generating devices, and communication apps to empower people living with ALS to effectively communicate. We are the only nonprofit in the US devoted exclusively to enabling communication and improving quality of life for people with ALS. Since 2019, we have supported more than 6,000 clients in all 50 states and 49 countries.
Through programs like our New York State Initiative, we are expanding access to life-changing technology and building a future where no one living with ALS has to lose the ability to connect and communicate with their loved ones and care teams.
